"10 City Government of Baliwag, Bulacan Notes to Financial Statements For the Year Ended December 31, 2023 1. General Information/Agency Profile The consolidated financial statements of the City Government of Baliwag were authorized for issue on February 12, 2024 as shown in the Statement of Management Responsibility for Financial Statements signed by Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella, the Local Chief Executive. Baliwag is a local government unit (LGU) founded in 1732 by the Augustinians and was incorporated by the Spanish Governor -General on May 26, 1733. Last July 22, 2022 , Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11929 lapsed into law, wherein the said measure converted the Municipality into a component city and standardize d its name as the City of Baliwag. A plebiscite was held on December 17, 2022 of which 17,814 residents voted in favor of conversion to a component city while only 5,702 voted against.
